Going home again

Noah and Harlow fell desperately in love, and married young. Really young, and while they both loved each other dearly, love on its own isn't enough to make a marriage work. To make it work you need to back those feelings up with actions that reflect them, and when everything came to a head, Noah's actions were ... not enough.

Faced with that, and knowing that she deserved better, Harlow picked up and left. Not only did she leave Noah, but she left town for the bright lights of New York, leaving behind the grandmother who'd raised her, and a much younger brother who still needed his fair share of raising.

Years later, that grandmother gets sick, and that little brother is still in need of adult supervision, prompting a return as abrupt as her departure, and that's where things start getting all sorts of complicated.

This delightful novel has a wonderful cast of colorful characters, some of whom have apparently featured in other novels in the series, but were introduced in such a way that I certainly didn't feel I was expected to know things I didn't for not having read those other books.

The tension between the two main characters is superbly awkward, Despite not having seen each other for years, there's clearly still chemistry there, yet neither seem particularly sure how to navigate their new circumstances, particularly given that Harlow is now guardian to fourteen year old Ethan, up and coming football star, and Noah is now ... Coach Murphy.

Author Jessica Prince' beautifully captures the innocence and claustrophobia of living in a small town. The freedom from the rat race of the big city, traded off against the inability to simply avoid that one person you'd really like to not see, since even just walking past them on the street means facing up to demons you thought were long buried.

I really enjoyed the way this book transitions seamlessly from light and funny, to heavy and serious, the subplots involving best friends and particularly how the plot kept revolving around two characters other than the two main ones, Ethan and Grammy.

In the end, a heartwarming tale about love and family that brought tears and smiles in slightly disproportionate measure. I've no hesitation in recommending it.

“I broke us,” I said in a low voice as I turned back to the wall. “And there hasn’t been a day that’s passed that I haven’t been sorry for it.” ~ Noah

I have been following the Colors series since the beginning, and I have really been enjoying all of the stories. For me, Wildflower wasn't as heartbreaking as some of the others, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy reading about Harlow and Noah. Their story was cute, and I liked them together. Harlow cracked me up. Her inner dialogue was too funny and the conversations she had with Chloe and Nevie were as funny as always! My favorite conversation? Was the conversation she had to have with her little brother, Ethan, about the birds and the bees!

“And if she tells you that you don’t need to wear one because she’s on the pill, she’s full of s***. Never trust a woman. I speak from personal experience, our gender are a bunch of manipulative bitches. No glove, no love, Ethan. Say it with me.” “I’m not saying that!” “Say it!” He pulled in a deep breath as his scowl deepened. “No glove, no love.” “That’s right,” I replied in relief. “Now, for the most important part…” “There’s more?” he yelped in a shockingly high-pitched voice. I gave him a solemn nod, hoping he understood the seriousness of what I was about to tell him. “Yes. And this is something you need to remember for the rest of your life. You ready?” Ethan’s face was a mask of stern concentration as he nodded. “The woman always comes first.” “AGH! GOD!”

HaHaHa! I couldn't stop laughing when I read that part! I imagined having that conversation with my little brother and I think I laughed for a good five minutes! It also didn't help that every time she would see Shannon, she gave her the death glare! Harlow was so funny and Noah was sweet and cute. They really were perfect together, and I would have loved to have been a fly on their wall! This was another great story from Jessica Prince!

Noah and Harlow were young loves that ended up in a situation that was more than they wanted to handle. Noah did not deal with it well at all and acted like brat and because of that he lost Harlow.
Six years later and Harlow is back in town because her Gram has died and she is now parent to her teenage brother. The one person she doesn't expect to run into is Noah. But Noah has other plans. He want's the girl back now that she is back in town. Harlow is more than leery of letting him in again and justifiably so.
I wasn't sure how much I believed that she had not been with anyone else in that time, but I was slightly disappointed to hear he had been. Even though I did actually expect him to have been more of a man ho as per usual with boys nursing their wounds.
Circumstances pull a ground hog day on them, but his time Noah is pushing and Harlow is resisting. I understood Noah's frustration but I thought he was a bit of a jerk during this time. They were both still fairly young and still quick tempered so I wasn't quick to root for a quick reunion. (The nickname honey was just odd for their age. lol)
The ending is a cute HFN.

About the Author
An experienced instructor in the health and fitness industry, Tim specialises in teaching the principles of exercise, nutrition and healthy eating to gym instructors and personal trainers. He is also involved in teaching fitness for disabled clients and training for older adults.

Tim has worked for London Central YMCA as a tutor in health and fitness for over 20 years. Prior to that he studied engineering, gaining a BSc in technology and an MSc in robotics. It is not a dieting book but provides the information you need to know regarding a balanced diet and how to incorporate the main food groups to work in collaboration with your metabolism. Each food group is discussed for greater clarity.

These principles are sound and will enlighten you on the do's and don'ts of healthy eating. Other areas addressed will include the following:

- Beneficial facts on fats and the truth about hydrogenated fats

Nutrition Guide for Healthy Eating

With Christmas coming on, and a wealth of fad diets, sometimes it's lovely to get someone who actually knows what they are talking about explaining the basics of good nutrition. This book takes the concepts that I learned in school about how to eat a healthy diet, and updates and expands them.

It's a thorough book, easy to read and digest without being overly long and technical. A great layman's book to how to have good nutrition for healthy eating. I especially liked the part on drinking water and the explanations around caffeine and alcohol. I also found the details on portion size and tracking quite helpful.

I recommend it to anyone who is looking for the basics on how to become more healthy through eating well.

Changing My Habits

One big thing I've forced myself to do is eat a good breakfast. I am not hungry in the morning, but eating breakfast is important to your energy levels. I will also take the advice to eat healthy snacks between meals to keep energy high and mood positive.

Now of course I have to cut down on all the sugar in my coffee. Hmm, maybe start that tomorrow.

Don't worry, there is plenty for women to do!

It is wonderful to see and hear a man who has given his life to teaching through the whole Bible, and there is nothing I see in Pawson that says he is in it for gain of any kind. I think he is right on with this concept of leadership. I listened to his series on this topic on youtube. Pawson is down to earth, with a great respect for the scriptures, and for women, by the way. If you think you would disagree with him on this - check him out on youtube, it can't hurt, and maybe you'll want to read a more thorough treatment of the subject,

The last or sixth edition of my Elements of Geology was already out of print before the end 'of 1868, in which year I brought out the tenth edition of my Principles of Geology.

In writing the last-mentioned work I had been called upon to pass in review almost all the leading points of specula tion and controversy to which the rapid advance of the sci ence had given rise, and when I proposed to bring out a new edition of the Elements I was strongly urged by my friends not to repeat these theoretical discussions, but to confine myself in the new treatise to those parts of the Ele ments which were most indispensable to a beginner. This was to revert, to a certain extent, to the original plan of the first edition; but I found, after omitting a great number of subjects, that the necessity of bringing up to the day those which remained, and adverting, however briefly, to new dis coveries, made it most difficult to confine the proposed abridgment within moderate limits. Some chapters had to be entirely recast, some additional illustrations to be intro duced, and figures of some organic remains to be replaced by new ones from specimens more perfect than those which had been at my command on former occasions. By these changes the work assumed a form so different from the sixth edition of the Elements, that I resolved to give it a new title and call it the Student's Elements of Geology.

In executing this task I have found it very difficult to meet the requirements of those who' are entirely ignorant of the science. It is only the adept who has already overcomexiv preface.

Geology made simple

This is a great book for those who are just starting out to study Geology. Although I'm a astronomer and physicist I found it interesting and I could relate the information to Astrogeology.
