This series was great kept you on your toes with the suspense and adventure of a were mouse and her friend who is a were raccoon.t
This book also had Vampires, demons werewolves and others lol. The author did a wonderful job writing this collection. Can't to read more of the authors books.

Loved it!!

I thought these stories were written very well. The characters, good or bad were also likeable and interesting. It had a lot of action and mayhem. It had were wolfs, vampires, witches, and different were shifters. This was a great bundle to read and well worth buying.

2.5 stars rushed, short stories.. not real "books" errors too hard to bear

Book one started out really great. There were some errors.. Which one wouldn't expect from an author. Some sentences were written so sloppily you couldn't make head nor tails of them and had to just move beyond them hoping not to miss anything too important about the story.

I did enjoy book one enough to come buy the whole 5 book set. Which I'd like to warn everyone now.. These aren't "books" these are a series of "short stories" and they each end stupidly. Right in the middle of a conversation or changing clothes and then Starts up finishing changing clothes or ending a very unimportant sentence from the last book. Not a cliff hanger ending. But more like ending the book as what do you want for lunch? And starting the next book immediately saying "a sandwich" wth!?

As each book went along the errors grew magnificently. Sentences you couldn't understand at all. Improper use of words the author should know the meanings of before using, missing words in sentences every page among glaring spelling errors. Sometimes the author would forget a setting.. Like they were having LUNCH but then the next sentences in the paragraph kept referring to them having dinner, then back to lunch. It became really confusing among all of these types Of errors and on top of it would change Chloe's name to Claire in the story and leave you wondering wth was happening. The authors just forgot Chloe's name was Chloe and used Claire instead..

Also the author would forget to give us info about settings and the story. As if they forgot what they were writing or where they were in the story and picked it up again months later and didn't go back to read what was already written.

The further the books went the more errors and more frequent they became which was sucky enough and hard to deal with. But almost worse was the fact the stories grew more and more rushed! So much so that each book grew worse and worse and ruined the books and characters and whole story.

The ending of the last book was so rushed and had such potential for romance and fun.. But the author chose to end it in a couple of sucky sentences ruining all five books in my opinion.

Although there is a follow up series on one of the other main characters I'm worried it will be just as rushed and error riddled. Most sentences sounded like someone just learning the English language. :/ sorry, it's true. I'd rather give an honest opinion. This author really needs to sit down and rethink the way they write and get an editor or someone to help with spelling and a dictionary as well. Spellcheck even. Reread what you write!

Would I recommend this book? Maybe book one.. But I guess none of them really as the way the story ends and begins in book two.. It's like she just took one whole book and evenly divided it into five without thought to where one ended and another began. No, I wouldn't recommend it.

Will I read it again? No.

This could've been a great book. Instead of a bunch of short, rushed stories. Had potential.

Fabulous book!

I highly recommend this book for the enthusiastic student of French at any level beyond the most basic. I am teaching myself French, and one situation that has confused me is the blank wall I face when discovering in my readings various French words that share the same dictionary definition. Are the words truly identical, or are there subtle or not so subtle distinctions of meaning or "register" (formality or informality) that I need to know? I could find a native speaker to help me out time and again, but that is impractical. Instead, I was delighted to find this book, which answers these questions and does it very thoroughly. In my opinion, it fills a big void in the educational materials available to French students.

Not what I was expecting

After reading the other review of this book, I couldn't wait to get it for myself. I am also teaching myself French with the aid of a private lesson every two weeks, and a French penpal.

Frankly I'm disappointed in this book. The different shades of meaning are expressed usually with only one or two English words. I believe that for a native English speaker to fully appreciate the differences, entire phrases are necessary to explain them.

Here is one example, drawn randomly: the verb jouir has 6 synonyms listed. Two pairs have exactly the same English (goûter/se plaire = "to take pleasure in", and s'amuser/jouir de = "to enjoy"). There are French example phrases using all 6 verbs, but no guidance in either language to help picking between them. In other words, it seems that a person has to already know French for this book to be of much use!

Another criticism, admittedly a minor one, is that the page headings are wrongly placed: in a dictionary the top outside edge of each page should show the word at top or bottom of that page, whereas in this book these words are in the very inside of the page, right next to the spine! This makes it much harder to flip through the book looking for an entry. Page numbers occupy the top outside spot, which is useless since the index refers to words and not page numbers.

Frankly my advice is, before buying this book get hold of a copy of it (perhaps your local library has one) and make sure it really is what you want.

Good, but not comprehensive

This is a very interesting book. It lists synonyms by providing a description of any differences in nuance between the words, and ranking them according to register (from very formal to vulgar).

It is a great book to browse at your leisure and study in small snippets. However, if you are looking for a complete dictionary of synonyms, this is not the book you're looking for. It is not comprehensive.

However, it is not pretending to be, and instead does does a very good job of explaining the subtleties of choosing one particular word over another. In that respect, it is an excellent help for non-native speakers, for whom those subleties are not usually apparent.

About the Author

CRAIG T. BOUCHARD is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Signature Group Holdings. He is the cofounder of Esmark Inc., once the fourth largest American steel company, and industrial supplier Shale-Inland. Bouchard crafted two successful hostile takeovers of public companies, served as a trustee of Boston University and the Foundation of the University of Montana, and is a member of the board of the Athletic Department at Duke University. He has been featured on CNBC, NBC, and Bloomberg TV and in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Forbes.

JAMES V. KOCH is Board of Visitors Professor of Economics and President Emeritus at Old Dominion University. Caterpillar out of the other top 10 Fortune 100 companies

I was kind of expecting something like Liker's Toyota way where they explained the core Caterpillar philosophy that drove the company, but it's a totally different style

The book feels like a sales pitch as to why Caterpillar will be a good bet as a stock for the next 5 years. From what I gather, the Caterpillar seems to focus on things that may politically unpopular but logical to remain profitable, such as outsourcing and standing toe to toe with the union.

Provides an interesting insight to the company and gives decent breakdown of figures and regions.

If you have some spare time, this is a decent read, however not the best I've seen so far.

Takes a certain kinda' person...

This is a difficult book to review. As an "Ad Man" and marketing person, I was hoping that the book would lean a little more in that direction; ie: How CAT positions themselves in the market and the role that their branding and provenance plays in that strategy. I found the first chapter to be boring yet informative — it dragged on and on about "why" they wrote the book and "who" the authors are. I don;t particularly care to know this information as I have already purchased the book; plus, that what bio flaps are for.

If you love financial/economical acronyms, then you'll fall in love with this book. I found myself keeping an index card/bookmark of all the acronyms used, as there seemed to be a new one on each page. Secondly, If you also find yourself loving charts, graphs, and other economical graphics, then this book will tickle that spot for you — there are several.

Overall, I found the content to be well organized and the chapters to be fairly clear and concise. The writing style is a little on the monotonous side for me and the use of foreign phrases to be "Frasier-esque." All in all, I would recommend it to a friend with the caveat that it'd be a friend who's in the financial or economic field.

I thought this was going to be more of an advertisement for the big machinery maker. It opens up the company to scrutiny and makes known how the Americans do it rather than us copying the way the Japanese do it. It's about time we lead rather than follow in the manufacturing realm.

Magnificent, spellbinding book on accepting the givens of life.

No one doesn't need this marvelous book. David Richo, in an extraordinary generosity of spirit, shares with us some truly illuminating insights of remarkably profound truths. It can't be overstated enough on how valuable his insights are. The key truths of life, the inevitabilities and vicissitudes of it, are dealt and tackled with unflinching directness, and with that, a great deal of compassion for the problems that can assail us all. And yet, he is conspicously lacking in false sentiment. Richo urges us, firmly, yet gently, to give up trying to exist in denial of the things we cannot change, and instead makes a compelling, and logic-based treatise on the idea of just simply embracing and accepting these inevitabilities. His 5 key truths are: 1. everything changes and ends, 2. things do not always go according to plan, 3. life is not always fair, 4. pain is part of life, and 5. people are not loving and loyal all the time.

So many of Richo's statements and exposition behind these points have such clarity, brilliance of scope, and an astonishing ring of truth behind them, that he makes it sound almost easy to commence in the process of acceptance. Moreover, Richo shows that the only way to evolve as a sentient being is to consciously work at a personal self-evolution, for it is, really, the key to moving from one stage of life to the next. That tantalizing but often elusive prospect can invlove a great deal of personal growth and fulfillment. So many of us get stuck in ruts, seemingly unaware and puzzled as to how life can pass us by, without any conscious realization as to the subtle, but inexorable changes that occur along the way. Richo, like a wise master and teacher, generously helps in the process of coming to terms with those changes, and makes us see the beauty of accepting them.

One of the more felicitous aspects of what's presented here is that Richo utilizes in his words a combination of modern Western psychology and ancient Eastern spiritual thought, with a dash of Jung thrown in. There are numerous wise and poetic quotes from Shakespeare to Shaw deftly incorporated throughout, and which vividly illustrate Richo's own eloquent phrases. The text is clear, easy to read (yet some sentences and phrases are so astonishingly meaningful that you have to stop and THINK), compact, unfussy, and peeled to the truth.

Needless to say, I heartily recommend this book; it has changed(or rather, ENHANCED greatly) the way I think.

Most People Learn These Lessons the Hard Way

This isn't a feel-good self help book. It is a realistic look at certain "givens" in life that must be addressed by anyone who wants to live a REAL life. Many people don't want to accept ideas like, "Life isn't always fair."

When I was younger, I didn't want to accept this type of thinking myself, but over time, I have learned that each of the 5 things the author mentions are true. I appreciated the candor with which the author delivered these truths and the solutions that were offered to help accept the positive and the negative aspects of existence. This is not a main stream, positive thinking piece, but I think it helped me to develop a more healthy attitude about the aspects of life that are difficult, if not impossible to change.

1. Everything changes - nothing last forever.
Everything ends, every beginning is the start of an end. Relationships end, people die. Seasons turn, things change. Get used to it. Learn to let go gracefully, change and grow yourself.

2. Things do not always go according to plan
The best laid plans often go astray. No plan survives contact with reality. Adapt, improvise, flex, adjust your sails, innovate. Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out. Plans are useless but planning is invaluable.

3. Life is not always fair
Some serious wrongs cry out to be righted but many more are best dealt with by moving on and not getting ensnared in a negative energy cycle.

4. Pain is part of life
There is a cost to everything and suffering may be part of that cost. Pain is not necessarily punishment and pleasure is not necessarily a reward. Pain can be a source of tremendous personal growth. But there is no need to seek out pain to speed your growth. Life will send you your proper measure!

5. People are not loving and loyal all the time
We are social, gregarious creatures. We depend on each other. But people are human and inevitably let us down. Our work as healthy adults is to feel this fear of betrayal and abandonment and deal with it, embrace it, learn from it, grow beyond it, NOT run from the fear. Running only strengthens fear.

"THE OXFORD BOOK OF CAROLS" IS THE MOST FAMOUS AND THE MOST COMPLETE OF ALL CAROL COLLECTIONS."
It contains 197 carols, most of which are for the Christmas season, but some are for Passiontide or Easter, or for other seasons of the year. All but thirty have traditional carol tunes, mostly with traditional carol texts. The remainder have music by 19th-or 20th-century composers, including such famous carols as Holst's 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and 'Lullay my liking', Cornelius's 'Three Kings from Persian lands afar' and Tchaikovsky's 'The Crown of Roses'(one of my personal favorites).

Percy Dearmer edited the words and Martin Shaw and Ralph Vaughan Williams the music. Vaughan Williams also composed four carols and collected a number of folk carols.

The typical carol expresses common emotions of ordinary people in language that can be understood with music that is shared by all. The tunes in this book are real carol tunes set to appropriate harmony, preserving the freshness and buoyancy of the true carol.

There are five parts in this book that I now list for your convenience: PART ONE: Traditional Carols with tunes proper to them; Nos 1-72 English, Welsh and Irish - Nos 73-113 foreign carols with word translations. PART TWO: Traditional carol tunes set to other traditional or old texts nos 114-132. PART THREE: Modern texts written for or adapted to traditional tunes nos 133-167. PART FOUR: Traditional carols set to tunes by modern composers nos 168-185. PART FIVE: Carols by modern writers and composers nos 186-197.

The carols are arranged in the index for use throughout the Church Year either by the first line of the song (Italics) or the title. There is also a separate index with just the titles alphabetically arranged. There is no doubt that many of these carols might not be as familiar to Americans as to the British from whence this book came, and possibly more familiar to Europeans. However, it is a good opportunity for all to pick up on some very attractive tunes that we might learn to enjoy. This really is an exceptional book both musically and historically for the information is extensive, well organized and most informative. The arrangements are in four-part harmony and certainly very singable and playable by the average singer or pianist.

Must have reference for Business Brokers and Loan Officers

I am the owner of CRB Group a business brokerage in California and consider this a must have reference in my profession. For me the most important information in this book is the rule of thumb valuation guidelines. This is a must for establishing a starting point for the asking price for any business. There is general information on the trends within each industry and business type. For the most part the information for each business type is sufficient. If it was extensive for each business, then the book would be thousands of pages long. The author, Tom West, is an acknowledged expert in the business brokerage industry and has written many other business brokerage books. If you are a business broker, or a loan officer, then this book is a must. If you are looking to buy, or sell a business, then I really recommend doing your research to find the best business broker to represent you. Buyers and seller that go it alone often make many mistakes, like improperly valuing the business that they are selling or buying. Even with a rule of thumb valuation you can end up selling a business for too little, or paying to much. There are many aspects of buying and selling a business besides the valuation of the business. There is escrow, how to handle accounts receivables, allocation of purchase price, how to handle leased equipment, true market value of the present equipment, negotiations and more that his book does not cover.

Read Book but Don't Hire Company to Fight Your Ticket!

These people (the author & his company) screwed me over and took my money without doing what they promised. They had every excuse in the book, once they got my money, why they weren't liable. I ended up with a warrant because they got my check to the court a day late and had to take care of the court mess all myself. I ended up having to pay them about the same as the fine ($400 each), and they would not budge an inch. Very frustrating, he is not a lawyer nor is anybody that works there, they are just paper pushers, but probably know how to fight a ticket.

i would give this company no stars if possible. Steven F. Miller is a scam artist and all the information to fight your ticket is available for free online. Look on Yelp.com for descriptions of his company's scam tactics. this is a very low person with no morals. his staff is incompetent and unethical. SCAM SCAM SCAM. beware.

GREAT traffic ticket self help guide

I have a pretty good driving record and I get a lot of discounts on my insurance because of it so I was scared you-know-what-less when I got my first speeding ticket. Not sure what to do I went to the bookstore and started looking for self help books on fighting tickets. Most books were overpriced so I left to compare prices online. I found this book and the price seemed reasonable. I decided to go with this book because it was created by a reputable company that has been around a long time and after checking out their website I saw they have an A+ rating with the BBB and their customers reviews are really positive and encouraging. I decided to give their book a try and boy was i glad. It has a lot of good useful information in plain english without a lot of legal terms that I don't understand and it actually was not boring to read. I'm confident to say anyone in my situation should def get this book its a good one.

Aunque el protagonista es un asesino bajo contrato y sus misiones estan planificadas cuidadosamente, un minuto de indecision lo lleva a protagonizar una carrera contra el tiempo para detectar quien o quienes quieren matarlo. Se descubre ademas cierta sensibilidad y ternura en el protagonista. El final es algo confuso para mi gusto pero me entretuvo y lo lei en tiempo record. Lo recomiendo.
