I’m currently using “Communication Matters” in my undergraduate program. This book is clear and engaging. The book is well-organized and well-written with language that younger students can understand but also with depth and fresh intake that challenges me even now as a senior in my Communication degree program. Marty covers issues such as sensitivity, cultural-identities and nonverbal communication – all of which are essential to have a strong understanding of when striving to be a strong communicator. The text is also excellent in the way that it collides relevant theory and biblical concepts. I highly recommend this text as a student and young professional.

Definite Five Stars

Between this book and "Be My Baby", Andersen has gone on my automatic buy list. There are very few writers who can pen a hero as well as Andersen. In fact, only Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Linda Howard come to mind.
I was shocked to see some of the bad reviews this book took on this site. "Baby I'm Yours" is a fresh, innovative, sexy, hilarious, light-hearted romantic comedy. If you like to laugh, and if you enjoy reading about feisty, quirky heroines who bring strong, primal males to heel, then this is the book to purchase.
There's nothing quite as nice for a reading enthusiast as finding an author who can make you smile.

Excellent!

I've never read anything by Susan Anderson before, but if "Baby I'm Yours" is an indicator of how she writes, I'll be snapping up all of her books without a second thought. I especially like the cover art on her books. They are snappy and sharp and suit her writing style. I like how Anderson situates normal people like Catherine MacPherson and Sam McKade into her novels and bases her story not on an overly fantastic plot, but more a journey of two people who fall in love. I find that a lot of romance novels get caught up in the setting, regency England, for example and the history of the period and completely lose the characters. Without giving away too much of the novel, this is a writer not to be missed!

A Little Too Much "Romance 101"

While "Baby, I'm Yours" is entertaining enough to hold a reader's attention, there are some passages that appear to have been constructed using a "Guide for Writing Romance". It is absurd for the author to expect us to believe that when a man enters a woman's home and threatens her with a gun, she's going to notice "his strength", yet "Baby, I'm Yours" is full of scenarios in which Catherine, the heroine, notices Sam's physical attributes and inner appeal when she would really be trying to escape his clutches. Yes, this is a romance novel. Yes, we expect conflict and tension between our couple. But in this book, the attraction these two characters feel for one another pops up in places where it should not, giving the book a contrived sense about it. Also, at one point, Catherine has a chance to flee from Sam and just like they must teach in Romance 101 classes, she becomes a silly female and remains stuck in her predicament. The worst we have to face is Catherine's ludicrous request that Sam shoot a spider with the little bit of ammunition they have. Again, we are to find it "precious" that she wants protection from a spider in any old, silly, aren't-I-just-vulnerable?, female way she can get it. There is no depth of character, Sam is an unattractive, bratty male, and her subplots (Kaylee and Bobby; Gary back in Florida) are so much better-woven than the main plot, that one is left starving for those characters to creep back up and take over from the boredom that Catherine and Sam provide. In short, the story is too skeletal: The author hits on all of the Romance 101 keys but leaves us wanting a story we can sink our teeth into.

Series plot is stale

I didn't enjoy the book. I felt like it was the same plot over and over again and too similar to prior books. Halloween moans about being the leader, yet wants to be the leader. Someone tries to take away her leadership position, she still can't cast spells correctly, and she keeps bringing back the dead who generally seem to mess things up. In a plot twist (SPOILER ALERT) the newest group helps rather than hurts. Other than that, same old story. Found myself skimming just to make it to the end.

Not quite sure...

I Generally LOVE Rose's books. For some reason I finished this book and felt left hanging. The 'action' was very anticlimactic and there were so many things that just didn't make sense, didn't get answered, should have been more exiting but felt so rushed and just not well thought out. There were aspects that were just left hanging that needed at least a bit of closure.
That being said, I did LIKE the book. It was a fun fast read, and kept me entertained. It does need some proofreading, there were way too many errors.

I will be buying the next book, I just hope that it lives up to what I know Rose can produce!!!

eh - boring

Ok, while this series was never intended to be deep literature, this installment was rather boring.

She spends too much time with a gaggle of witches she raised following her around. She seems to be bumbling her way through most of the story where in the previous book she was starting to learn more from the book, cast some interesting spells, and generally come across as becoming half-way competent.

And after all of this, not really that much happens. And the stuff that did happen really didn't seem to be explained well.

I hope the next one is better.

Why I Wrote This Book

Much has been written on managing the symptoms of ADD ADHD, but these books were almost always directed at the client himself, as if it was up to the person with ADD/ADHD alone to solve his problems and get on with life. Since coming to this new understanding, I, along with my colleagues at the Sachs Center, have been able to help scores of women gain a new understanding of ADD ADHD and how they can transform their marriages from a living nightmare into a much more peaceful and harmonious state of affairs. As we wrote this book, we reached out to scores of men and women across the country to learn from their experiences. About the Author
Dr. Sachs is a licensed child and adult psychologist, specializing in the treatment of ADD ADHD in adults. He understands that relationships and marriage can be greatly impacted by ADD ADHD.

Dr. Sachs did his clinical training in Chicago at Cook County Hospital, Mt. Sinai Hospital and the Child Study Center. He completed his internship and post doctoral work at the Children’s Institute in Los Angeles, where he supervised and trained therapists in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT).

Dr. Sachs consulted to Juilliard in New York City, providing counseling to their dance, drama, and orchestral students. Dr. Sachs is author of Helping the Traumatized Child and "Helping Your Husband with ADHD.” Dr. Sachs has appeared on NBC Nightly News, CBS, WPIX and other major media outlets, discussing his unique holistic approach to ADD/ADHD treatment. Dr. Sachs also writes for the Huffington Post. Dr. Sachs is a member of the American Psychological Association and the New York State Psychological Association.

Such a HUGE help!

I am half way through this book and the entire thing is the exact story of my life for the last 4 years. When my husband and I met, not only did I not know anything about ADD/ADHD, but he had been diagnosed years before and never said a word to me. First, I thought his little "quirks" we're cute, then I thought he was just lazy and childish. Now I get it. Not only do I get where it a all comes from, I get that all this time he's been trying to make me believe that I was losing my mind was to keep the focus off of him. This book is steering me in a completely different direction now, thankfully.

Rather superficial and stereotypic

The author opens the book by citing ADHD prevalence figures from the Wall Street Journal. That presents the first suggestion that his expertise in this field is limited. Another suggestion comes with the continued use of "ADD/ADHD" as if there are two types of ADHD. Instead, there is only one official term, ADHD, with three presentations (Hyperactive, Combined, and Inattentive).

Throughout there are further indications that the author has a rather superficial and stereotypical understanding of ADHD. It is unclear why the holder of a PsyD who claims a "gestalt" clinical approach considers himself expert enough to write such a book.

This book's simplistic concepts and language might be useful to people who are just getting started in learning about ADHD in adults and prefer simple reading material. But they should be aware that this topic is much more complex.

Heart strings!

This one will tug at your heart strings!

Patrick and Christie Hanuman fell in love, got married, and agreed to live happily ever after. But their marriage wasn't a fairy tale, and Christie soon realized that. Unfortunately their marriage crumbled, and Patrick left, causing divorce to happen. Now, after all these years, Patrick was back in Loving. He was widowed with a three year old son. And he was a changed man!

Not only did this story touch on true love and forgiveness, but it also shows the reader that there is hope in any relationship. When God's timing - instead of man's timing - is perfect, it's a relationship that will overcome all odds! But this book also deals with infertility (in a way), post-divorce, and single-parenting. Patrick's father is having heart trouble which adds yet another dimension to this story. Finally, something that could be tragic happens near the end. That will tug at your heartstrings for sure!

The author did a great job in making what could have been an unbelievable story - believable!

Gail Martin is one of the best at putting together a romance novel. She is well able to bring to life the chemistry of the hero and heroine. She is also able to impart bible truths into each story. "Loving Care" is the story of a divorced couple who after a few years find themselves becoming involved in each other lives again. Patrick and Christie must work through the differences and misunderstandings that caused their split years ago. They forgive each other and are able to move forward.

Fabulous, hilarious and soul searching

One of the best ever books on Singaporean school system and the trials and tribulations that a working mother undergoes in the rat-race that is the PSLE. The writing style is lucid, clear, funny and thought provoking at the same time.
But be careful. Please ensure that you are alone in a room with the doors locked when you read this. Especially when Noah, the younger child comes into picture, remember to hold on to the chair on which you sit. You are more likely to fall down laughing.
Apart from the humour, the extreme stress that the children have to undergo and the method of trying to fit circular children in square pegs would better get the required attention from the authorities concerned.
A brief Singapore background in terms of terminology would be helpful but not essential.
